\nFirst inscribed page:-
\n“A Book Of Tunes
\nJoshua Harrison, David Wall, 1762”
\nSecond inscribed page:-
\n“David Wall, His Book, 1775”
\nThis item is a brief manuscript tune book, containing 16 dance tunes,
\nand instructions for dances with them.
\nMany of the tunes found their way into the repertoire of The New Victory Band.
\nand thus into general currency in late 1970’s,early 80’s in England.
\nFive of the tunes were published by the Sheffield branch of the EFDSS in 1927.
\nwith an interpretation of the dances and piano accompaniment.
\nMost pages contain dance instructions in the stylised manner of the printed
\ncollections of the period, which I have not attempted to reproduce.
\nHowever, an earlier researcher has provided an interpretation of most of the
\ndances, who’s faithfulness to the original I am not qualified.. etc, etc.
\nThese interpretations are very similar to but not identical with the above
\nmentioned EFDSS interpretations.
\nIf anyone would like to see them it may be arranged.
\nThe tunes are all clearly written and presented no difficulties in transcription.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
